Yashasvi Jaiswal Leaves Mumbai to Join Goa, Set to Play Alongside Arjun Tendulkar

In a significant move amidst IPL 2025, India's Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has officially decided to shift from Mumbai to Goa for the upcoming domestic season. Sources reveal that Jaiswal has sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to facilitate his transition.

Reason Behind Jaiswal’s Move Still Unknown

While the exact reason for his decision remains undisclosed, Jaiswal has yet to comment on the switch. The young batter had been a key figure in Mumbai cricket, having been part of the team since his Under-19 days.

His last appearance for Mumbai came in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, where he played against Jammu and Kashmir following the BCCI mandate requiring India players to participate in domestic cricket when not on national duty. However, he struggled in that match, scoring 4 and 26, as Mumbai faced a loss.

Goa Earns Promotion to Elite Group

Jaiswal’s decision to join Goa comes at a time when the team is riding high on success. Goa topped the Plate League of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, securing promotion to the Elite Group alongside Nagaland. Led by Darshan Misal, Goa dominated their campaign, winning all five matches last season.

With this move, Jaiswal becomes the third Mumbai player in recent times to join Goa, following in the footsteps of Siddhesh Lad and Arjun Tendulkar.

Jaiswal’s Recent Form – A Rollercoaster Ride

Jaiswal has experienced a mixed run across formats. He was India’s top scorer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, amassing 391 runs in 10 innings at an average of 43.44, including one century and two half-centuries. He was also named in India’s preliminary squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but was later replaced by mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Despite being included in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy semifinal squad, he withdrew due to ankle pain.

Jaiswal’s IPL 2025 Performance So Far

Jaiswal, who was retained by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for ₹18 crore, has struggled to make an impact in IPL 2025. In three innings, he has managed just 34 runs.

  • vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – Dismissed for 1 by Simarjeet Singh.
  • vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – Scored 29 off 24 balls, dismissed by Moeen Ali.
  • vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Scored 4, falling to Khaleel Ahmed.

Jaiswal will be aiming for a turnaround when Rajasthan Royals face Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on April 9.
