Virat Kohli Claims Orange Cap as Hazlewood Tops Purple Cap in IPL 2025
Sunday’s double-header brings big changes in the race for top honours
The IPL 2025 season is heating up, and after an action-packed Sunday, there’s a fresh shake-up at the top of the Orange and Purple Cap tables. Let’s dive into where things stand right now.
Orange Cap: Kohli Moves Ahead After a Big Day
The Orange Cap — awarded to the tournament’s leading run-scorer — changed hands twice on Sunday.
First, Mumbai Indians' (MI) Suryakumar Yadav overtook Gujarat Titans' (GT) B Sai Sudharsan after scoring a quick 54 off 28 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). His innings took his total to 427 runs, moving past Sai Sudharsan’s 417.
However, the joy was short-lived.
Later in the evening, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Virat Kohli put on a solid 51 from 47 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC), pushing his total to 443 runs and reclaiming the top spot.
But the battle isn't over yet. Sai Sudharsan will have a chance to bounce back when Gujarat Titans face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday in Jaipur.
