RCB's Home Ground Issues

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a loss at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, losing to Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the IPL 2025 season. The loss was RCB's second straight loss at home, and it raised questions about the playing conditions.​

Karthik's Issues with Pitch Conditions

RCB's guide, Dinesh Karthik, was not pleased with the pitch conditions in the post-match press conference. He pointed out that the team had asked for a batters' pitch for their first home matches, but the surface proved difficult for batters.

"We had requested good pitches for the first two games, but it's worked out in this manner where it's been tough to bat on," Karthik said. He pointed out that T20 cricket lives off high-scoring games, which are more appealing to spectators and profitable for broadcasters.

Karthik also explained the challenges for the batters, stating that the pitch made it difficult to rotate, strike, and play big shots. "There's been a wobble when people have attempted to remain out there and fight it out as well," he added, pointing out the uncertainty of the pitch.​

Looking Ahead: Conversations with the Curator

With regards to the pitch's role in determining match results, Karthik spoke about discussing the issue with the stadium curator. "We will surely have a word with the curator. We have faith in him to get the job done, and we will attempt and do the best that we can," he said.

Since RCB will look to make a comeback in the tournament, fixing the pitch conditions at their home stadium will be important for their future strategy.
