Ravindra Jadeja’s Post for MS Dhoni Goes Viral Amid CSK’s Struggles in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time IPL champions, haven’t had the best start to their campaign in the 18th edition of the tournament. After an impressive opening win against the Mumbai Indians, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led squad has suffered consecutive losses to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Amid this rough patch, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has reassured CSK fans that better days are ahead.

Following the defeat against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati, Jadeja took to social media to share a picture with MS Dhoni, expressing optimism about the team’s comeback.

CSK’s Close Finish Against Rajasthan Royals

Jadeja and Dhoni had fought hard in CSK’s chase against the Rajasthan Royals. With 39 runs needed from the last two overs, the duo smashed 19 in the penultimate over bowled by Tushar Deshpande, raising hopes of a thrilling finish.

In the final over, with 20 runs required, Sandeep Sharma stepped up for RR. After starting with a wide delivery, he dismissed Dhoni on the first legitimate ball, dashing CSK’s chances of a dramatic victory. Despite Jadeja’s unbeaten 32 off 22 balls, CSK fell short by six runs, giving Rajasthan Royals their first win of the season. Dhoni, meanwhile, managed 16 runs off 11 balls.

Why is Dhoni Batting Lower in the Order?

Dhoni’s batting position has raised eyebrows, as he walked in at No.7 against Rajasthan Royals and had previously batted at No.9 against RCB. Addressing concerns, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming explained that Dhoni’s knee issues prevent him from batting for extended periods.

"MS assesses his fitness. His knees aren’t the same as before, and while he’s moving well, there's still a physical toll. He can’t bat for 10 overs at full intensity, so he decides based on the situation. If the game is in the balance, he steps in earlier, but otherwise, he trusts his teammates to take charge," Fleming said.

Fleming also emphasized that Dhoni’s leadership and wicket-keeping are crucial for CSK, making it impractical for him to take the crease too early in the innings.

Currently placed seventh on the points table, CSK will look to turn things around when they face Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
