Punjab Kings Dominate Lucknow Super Giants with Convincing Eight-Wicket Victory
In a dominating performance, Punjab Kings (PBKS) won their second successive match in IPL 2025 by beating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by eight wickets. Having held LSG to a score of 171 for 7, PBKS chased the target comfortably, reaching 177 for 2 in only 16.2 overs.
Early Breakthroughs Set the Tone
Choosing to bowl first on a two-paced red-soil surface, PBKS made early inroads. Arshdeep Singh struck with the first ball, removing Mitchell Marsh for a golden duck. Lockie Ferguson, who shared the new-ball responsibilities, got rid of Aiden Markram, further weakening LSG's top order.
Middle Order Resilience
Despite early troubles, Nicholas Pooran contributed with a match-winning effort, scoring 44 from 30 balls. Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad chipped in with late runs, adding 41 and a quick cameo, helping LSG reach a fighting total of 171 for 7.
Prabhsimran's Explosive Start
In pursuit of 172, PBKS opening batsman Prabhsimran Singh unleashed a powerful attack, completing his half-century in 23 balls. His aggressive 69 off 34 balls put PBKS into solid territory, taking the team to 62 runs in the powerplay.
Iyer and Wadhera Seal the Win
After Prabhsimran left, skipper Shreyas Iyer constructed an unbeaten 52 from 30 deliveries. Nehal Wadhera provided strong support with the latter getting unbeaten on 43. The two formed an unbeaten stand to take PBKS home easily with over three overs to go.
This emphatic win puts Punjab Kings among the early pacesetters in IPL 2025, along with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals, all with two wins in as many games.
