MS Dhoni’s Toss-Time Teaser: “Not Sure If I’m Playing the Next Game”
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni once again stirred speculation about his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a playful remark during the toss ahead of CSK's clash with Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.
After losing the toss, Dhoni was asked by presenter and former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison if he would return for the next IPL season—a question that has lingered all season given Dhoni's potential retirement. With a trademark smile, Dhoni responded, “I don't know if I'm coming for the next game (laughs),” leaving fans amused and guessing yet again.
Morrison chose not to press further, and Dhoni shifted focus to discuss CSK's performance, particularly their home form and frequent team changes due to inconsistent performances following the auction. He noted that while CSK traditionally avoids making many changes, this season has been different due to underwhelming performances, leading to more frequent alterations in the lineup.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field. He confirmed a major blow to PBKS: “Unfortunate that he's got a fractured finger (Glenn Maxwell). Haven't decided on a replacement so far.”
As the IPL 2025 season progresses, Dhoni's cryptic comments continue to keep fans on edge about his future in the league.
