Major Setback for PBKS! Lockie Ferguson Ruled Out of IPL 2025 – Replacement Options Discussed
Just ahead of their face-off with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been dealt a serious blow as New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The injury occurred during PBKS’ recent clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where Ferguson appeared uncomfortable while bowling and had to walk off the field.
James Hopes Confirms the News
Speaking on the matter, PBKS' fast bowling coach James Hopes confirmed the unfortunate development, stating:
“Lockie Ferguson is out of the tournament indefinitely. It’s highly unlikely he’ll return before the season ends. It seems to be a serious injury.”
Potential Replacements
With Ferguson sidelined, PBKS will be looking to reshuffle their bowling lineup. Among the contenders to fill his shoes are Australia’s Xavier Bartlett and Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai. Indian pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak is also on the radar as a possible replacement.
PBKS will need to make a strategic decision quickly, especially with the league entering a crucial phase.
