In an imposing performance, Gujarat Titans (GT) registered an eight-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2, 2025. The win was RCB's first defeat this season.​

Early Wickets Stall RCB's Innings

Choosing to bat first, RCB lost early. Virat Kohli got out for 7 in the second over, caught at deep square-leg by Arshad Khan's delivery. Mohammed Siraj pitched in with a fine spell, getting Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt out, and reducing RCB to 42/4 inside the first seven overs.

Middle Order Makes Attempt To Recover

Despite the early toppling,  Jitesh Sharma achieved some resistance through a quickfire of 33 of 21 deliveries, including during a stand against Liam Livingstone. Livingstone demonstrated resilience to top-score at 54, with five of his sixes coming off Rashid Khan's bowling. Nevertheless, RCB finished their match at 169/8.

Siraj's Bowling Excellence

Mohammed Siraj played a key role in GT's bowling effort, ending with splendid figures of 3/19 from his four overs. His initial breakthroughs established the momentum, virtually wrecking RCB's top order.

Buttler, Sudharsan Guide GT's Pursuit

Pursuing 170, GT's innings got off to a conservative start. Following the early dismissal of skipper Shubman Gill for 14, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan added 75 runs in a vital partnership. Sudharsan fell just one run short of his half-century, making 49, while Buttler was left undefeated with a dominating 73 off 39 deliveries, finding five fours and six sixes.

Rutherford Nails the Win

Sherfane Rutherford provided Buttler support with a tidy 30 not out. His six in the 18th over to clinch the victory with 13 balls remaining cemented GT's win, exhibiting the team's dominance. ​
