Eoin Morgan Criticizes KKR’s Repeated Mistakes in IPL 2025 Loss to GT
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continue to struggle in IPL 2025, and former skipper Eoin Morgan believes the team is repeating the same errors match after match. Despite making lineup changes for their clash against Gujarat Titans, KKR fell short once again — this time by 39 runs.
It was their second straight defeat, and their third loss in the last five games, making it five losses in eight matches overall.
Changes That Didn’t Click
Speaking on JioStar, Morgan pointed out that the tweaks made to KKR’s batting unit for the Eden Gardens game didn’t pay off.
“They made a couple of changes to try and spark their batting, but clearly, it didn’t work. I’m sure they'll reflect and say those moves weren’t worth it,” he said.
KKR’s chase of 199 ended at a modest 159/8, with no significant partnerships forming — a glaring contrast to Gujarat’s batting display.
Struggles at Home Too
KKR’s home record has been disappointing as well, having lost three of four games at Eden Gardens this season.
“They just haven’t bounced back the way a strong team should. It’s been a consistent pattern of the same failures,” Morgan added.
Praise for GT’s Stars
Morgan praised Prasidh Krishna, currently the Purple Cap holder, for his economical and impactful spell of 4-0-25-2.
“He’s getting better with every game. That extra pace and control in the middle overs makes him a real asset for any captain,” he said.
“He leads the wicket charts by a clear margin and is now getting national recognition too — a testament to his growth.”
Sudharsan’s Classical Touch Impresses Rayudu
Former India batter Ambati Rayudu also had words of admiration for B Sai Sudharsan, who scored a fluent 52 off 36 balls, pushing his IPL 2025 run tally past 400.
“He’s a joy to watch. The way he uses the pace of the ball, keeps his shots grounded, and plays smart, traditional cricket — it’s a reminder that classical batting still works in modern T20,” Rayudu said.
