CSK Down but Not Out: CEO Kasi Viswanathan Stays Calm Despite Tough IPL 2025 Season
CSK Struggles in IPL 2025
The 2025 IPL season hasn’t gone the way Chennai Super Kings fans would’ve hoped. With six losses in eight games, the five-time champions are currently at the bottom of the points table. After a string of five straight defeats, the pressure is mounting. But CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan insists—there’s no panic in the camp.
No Panic Button for CSK
Despite their poor form, Viswanathan has made it clear that CSK remains calm and composed. Speaking to PTI, he said,
“We have never pressed the panic button. That’s not how our franchise works. It’s just a game, and we are trying to improve.”
Even with a rough start, CSK's leadership believes in their process and isn’t letting the current form shake their long-term vision.
Injuries and Challenges
One major blow for CSK has been the absence of their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is out due to injury. This has affected the team’s performance, especially in the batting department, where the lack of firepower has been evident.
To steady the ship, MS Dhoni has stepped in as captain, taking charge midway through the season. But as head coach Stephen Fleming rightly put it,
“Dhoni doesn’t have a magic wand.”
Hope Still Alive
While the road ahead is tough, CSK is not giving up. They now face a must-win situation in their remaining six games if they want a shot at the playoffs.
Planning for the future is also in motion, with Dhoni already thinking ahead to IPL 2026. When asked about Dhoni’s role in the turnaround, Viswanathan kept the focus on team effort:
“It’s not about one person. The whole team needs to do well. We believe in the players and never criticise our team.”
Looking Ahead with Positivity
As the tournament progresses, CSK fans will be hoping for a classic comeback story. The team may be down, but with experienced leaders like Dhoni and the calm backing of the management, they’re certainly not out.
Whatever happens, one thing is clear: CSK continues to play with belief, resilience, and the long-term in mind.
